Pasada Stories
On December 30, 2023, then the eve of the scheduled deadline for consolidation of Public Utility Vehicles (PUV) under the nationwide PUV modernization program, jeepney drivers staged a protest to serve as their last stand and appeal for the administration to reconsider the decision to phase out old jeepney models for newer, more expensive, and foreign-made e-jeeps.
Jeepney drivers had started to assemble at the break of dawn at the university avenue at UP Diliman, forming a long stretching caravan that traversed and impaled traffic along Quezon Avenue to España all the way to Mendiola, Manila.
With the program lasting until evening, numerous drivers extended their support through staying at the Mendiola Peace Arch until early morning of the next day. The collective action resulted to the extension of the deadline for unconsolidated drivers on January 2024.

Transport groups, socio-civic groups, and members of National Democratic Mass Organizations (NDMOs) join the march along España as the mobilization converges with the long stretch of the caravan.
Head of transport group Manibela, Mar Valbuena, appeals with the police to allow the entry of the mobilization and the jeepney caravan at the Mendiola Peace Arch. This was in response to the barricade formed by policemen blocking the street from which protesters may enter the area to formally hold the program.
